Starter/Relay
1.I can't start my car was wondering if you can tell if its the starter/clutch relay or the starter? I don't hear a click from the solenoid area but I do hear a click from the relay area.
2.Any way to test the relay other than connecting the pos terminal of the battery to the solenoid using a jump cable or something? I'm hesitant to try out this method. 3.Is it possible to use a wire and just connect the 2 female ends together sort of like a home made relay? |

In case you haven't gotten it working yet. You can tap on the relay while someone else is trying to start the car and if your relay is bad, it might start that way...

Just guessing that its about a 95. At the Interlock Relay (clutch relay) you can jump the black/ yellow and the black/ white together. That will bypass the relay.

Bad Starter Relay
I had a similar problem on an 87 Nissan Maxima and 94 Nissan Pickup that wouldn't start. You hear a clicking sound when you turn the key to start (and press the clutch as it is a manual transmission). Problem was the starter relay mounted to the passenger fender under the hood between the main relay block and the headlamp on the pickup. It's blue and has 2 connectors at the bottom. Disconnect the connectors, remove the top cap by prying if off with a thin blade screw driver, and clean the main contacts with a nail file or sand paper. Reconnect the relay and try it. Then replace the top cap with tape, silicon sealer, or epoxy. Worked on both vehicles for me.
