Engine Swap

Can you put a V6 in the S2K and if you can how big can it be? I mean with out having to destroy the engine bay, moving stuff is okay.

Why would you want to do that? Not only would such a swap cost you a ridiculous amount of money, but the F20C is already one hell of an engine. If you want a V6, buy a car that comes with a V6 stock and save yourself a lot of trouble.

I would have to agree.. there is no reason for a 6 in there..
the f20c is already more effecient than a lot of 6s...
the added weight would screw up the car anyway, but i wouldn't minded the added tq..

Re: Engine Swap

If you swap anything into an S2000 it had better be an RB26DETT or a 2JZGTE, and then you're going to have one hell of a weight distribution problem (maybe put some sandbags in the trunk?)

Bottom line: don't swap anything into an S2000 unless you're very bored and have more money than you'll ever need.

Re: Engine Swap

Dont put a Nissan or Toyota engine in there.... it would make the car less nimble. I'd say 13B powered S2K!

Re: Engine Swap

if you swap anything swap in the f22 from the 2004 s2k, wait is the 2004 model's engine called the f22? i know its 2.2L.
hey the s2000 got its name because of its 2000cc engine capacity right, well then shouldn't it now be called the s2200?!?!?!?

The old engine is the F20C. The new engine is the F22C.

Cool

A major engine swap in modern computer-controlled cars is not a job for the backyard mechanic. It sounds cool to do, and it is true that professional specialty shops do it on occasion, but the cost...you probably don't want to know. A few of the issues: you need the PCM for the new engine, but it may not be compatable with the rest of the car - instruments, ABS, OBCII, etc. You need to swap the transmission and rear end - these are about maxed-out with the F22C's power and torque as it is. You have to place the engine, trans and rear end into the chassis with custom mounts - probably not easy to get the proper suspension geometry. How can you get the instrument panel to work with sensors from the new engine? You'll need new springs and shocks to handle the greater weight of the new engine/transmission...will the chassis be strong enough to handle it all? What about the brakes?

And after all that, will you be able to even regester it to drive on the street? Not legally in many states you won't. Heaven forbid you ever want to sell it, 'cause who will want to buy a car that they can't legally drive? Expect to lose your a$$.

But, if the above doesn't discourage you, it would make a cool and unique ride. Is it worth all the hassle and $$$? Only you can answer that.

Very hard and VERY expensive. Especially becuase this is your first swap. Try a B18C5 instead, or a C1 if you have the LS or RS model.

hmotorsonline.com or inlinefour.com. You can find complete swaps there, and add about $1000 to have the swap done professionally. Then again, it's always more fun to DIY. Not to mention cheaper.

Re: Engine Swap

This might sound like a stupid question, I am new to Honda's. Would F22C bolt up to a F22A2 trans(FWD) or other FWD trans?
