Not pointing any fingers but most of you are looking for ways to make your Civic so fast with $8/hr jobs, always wondering which exhaust sounds best, which intake to buy and how much ungodly horsepower they will all add.. Well you know what? They all sound the same, all intakes do the same fuckin thing whether $20 or $210, and in the end you'll have a whopping 5 more horsepower and will still get killed by family sedans with 5 people in them.

Want to know how to make your pile of dogshit fast? Save money and turbocharge the bullshit engine you have, or do a swap for a real motor and mold that into something you won't get made fun of. You all (even I) have grocery picker-uppers and they were never meant for anything more. Adding some wider pipes to the engine won't make it a GT1 race car, so you need to quit being such monkey fuckin posers. Have a nice day.

Do what makes you happy, man - that is what this is all really about. If your reasons for getting out of this outweigh your reasons for being in it, then maybe it's time to hang it up.

I certainly haven't been in this very long, but I definitely feel at least a little bit of your frustration. You have to pay some mind, though, to the fact that there is a learning curve in all of this. If I knew when I started what I know now, I probably would have done a few things differently. In most cases, your car doesn't necessarily represent the destination at which you arrived after making all of your best decisions, but the journey by which you reached whatever state it is in, and there is some beauty in that.

Realize that in these forums you are going to find a lot of people just at the start of the learning curve, since Civic's are (relatively) cheaply and easily modified. If you spend any time in the WRX, S2000, or Supra forums, you'll find that the caliber of knowledge there is exponentially higher than it is here. I imagine that moving up to the Ferrari and NSX forums brings the same jump. Perhaps it's time for you to kick it up to the next level.

Even so, all things come to an end - like I said, you've just got to do what brings you fulfillment and satisfaction.

Out of character, but true. Actually, you're both right though.
When i got my '00 Civic, it was to replace my dying '92 Camry. At first i wanted to do the basic bolt-ons and leave it at that, thinking that would be enough to make my car a pocket rocket. But then i realized that a swap or FI would be the best route to go to. Then, i started to think, why spend all that money to turn a little econobox into something much peppier, when i could just save that money and put it down on a car that is fast/powerful to begin with? Something along the lines of a G35 coupe, or an Evo, etc. I'm still not sure what i want to do. Some days i want a swap, others i just lust after a 350Z. Decisions, decisions.

Even though stupid, some posts have been pretty funny. How about that one guy on the street racing forum who raced his stock civic against a Camaro, and when he "double shifted" into a HIGHER GEAR, he "pulled on him." I was just waiting for him to say how he again double shifted into fifth to save some gas while passing the camaro with his 102hp DX, or whatever he drove. Very amusing story. that's so funny that you say that, because every single day i change my mind on what i wanna do with my money. one day it'll be turbo, the next it'll be engine swap, then the next day it'll be "I'm just gunna pay off my loan on the car and get a nicer car!" My girlfriend gets pissed at me becuase I can never make up my mind on what I want to do with the extra money I have for my car..

anywho, seing how my main car site is down now (clubsi.com) and i get bored with another actual car enthusiast site that isn't full of numerous body kit and intake questions (honda-tech.com) i've decided i'll be back here for a day. Ricochet, nice car by the way, i used to follow up on most of your posts months ago, and that guy with the black civic, Emerge, i think. Anywho, i'll agree with you on this one, go find another site, i think you'd fit in great on honda-tech with the hatchback and all. I had to leave this site cause i was going crazy. Look at all the body kit questions, intake questions, and stuff like that. White rims, body kits, and all other things that drive people crazy are present on this site more so than other sites. just leave and come find the rest of us on a more technical site.

yeah that cost me like $200 about 9 months ago, so please, spare me. I have about $1200 saved for a major modification, so when you actually KNOW me, then say something relivant. thanks.
