Hi i'm new here, at least to asking questions. i have gained a great deal of info over the last 4-5 months that has been really helpful.
I now have a question... My 95 Aurora has a 16 pin type A DLC but does not appear to be OBD-II compliant i say this also because i have tried an Actron scan tool and come up with a link error. is there such a scan tool out there that can use this connector at a reasonable price? The Actron i tried goes for about $150. any help would be appreciated. |

An Actron CP9110 works great, but you need the GM cartridge (CP9111) and the GM OBD-II cable (CP9115) to connect to it. I've heard someone else mention they bought a Snap-On scan tool for like $500.
Here is the link to the 9110 at Actron's site: http://www.actron.com/cgi-bin/web_st...44221191_26351 You can find them almost all the time on ebay, though not always with a GM cartridge. You're probably looking at right around $150 to everything you need with this setup also, depending on the auction price. |

You may also want to check out products by Autoxray. There is one reader, called the ezread-2000. You can get it online for $179 including shipping or at Northern Tools for $189. I like that it comes with cards covering a bunch of makes and years. It reads codes and displays them in English. Here are 2 links, one to the autoxray site and one to northern..check it out.

Re: 95Aurora scan tool ?
I have no idea on the '95, but have a suggestion.
I know the '95 Corvette had an OBDII style connector, but the computer was OBDI compliant. This hybrid year model required an OBDI reader with an OBDII cable - very confusing. In as much as the Aurora was a new model in 1995 - did they start production with OBD2 (hopefully so), or was it OBD1 for the 1st production year? I'd be interested if someone could confirm the computer in the '95... |

Re: 95Aurora scan tool ?
Yes, the OBDII pin connector under the driver side dash in the footwell, with OBD1 computer...that hybrid year is messy
