aftermarket shift knob loosens...

My shift knob keeps loosening when I drive my car. Its an APC aluminum (I know its crap, Im gonna get a new one soon) knob. It has three little allen screws that clamp down on the shifter and a little bushing you put on top of the shifter before you put the knob on. I already put a threadlocker on the screws and it has helped it a little, but it still loosens. This is driving me crazy.

Re: aftermarket shift knob loosens...

do them evenly. that is, don't screw one down all the way until the other have at least got to the shifter itself. I ditched mine months ago after having the same problem, picked up a GReddy knob that has actual threads that match up with my shifter.

ya, or if you are OK with simple knobs, go on ebay, and get a chrome one or something, that is "SCREW ON"

.....NO KIDDING!!!!!!!!!!! APC is not the only company that has shift knobs that install like this though. I was asking if there was some sort of trick to get it to stay.

I had a Ichiban automatic shift knob that kept coming loose, so I took it off. With an automatic, you can't shift gears when it is loose Anybody want it (free)?
