Unhappy IAT sensor

ok, so i go on ebay, and buy a resistor for my Intake Air Temperature Sensor that is supposed to boost horsepower. i put it in, and i'm driving down the road, and my check engine light comes on. so, i say, well, the small boost in horsepower isnt' worth the annoyance of having that light on, so i take the resistor out, and the light stays on. so, does anyone have any idea how i can fix this without going and blowing th emoney on a new sensor???

That is one of the biggest scams EBAY has to offer. What you are effectively doing is telling the ECM that the air coming in is colder than it actually is causing the engine to run extremely rich... This only lasts a little while as the ECM starts relearning and over compensating. Unfortunatly the ECM can only compensate so far so you end up running rich and losing severe performance eventually, fouling your plugs, 02 sensor and your cat...If you look at any of the boards that cater to our trucks (www.s10planet.com www.s-seriesforum.com forums.s-series.org www.blazinlow.com ) you will see that it's basic clap trap...

Re: IAT sensor

Hook your oem sensor up and disconnect the battery for a few minutes.
