Donkey vs. Elephant

I just became a registered voter on Wednesday. I'd like to "make a difference" and vote, but I don't know much about politics. Can anyone explain the basics of what makes a Democrat or a Republican? Like, what policies they have, their views on certain issues, etc.

Any info you can give is better than what I have now.

You've come to the wrong spot for honest assessments

Don't worry about the major political parties. Pay attention to what the Canidates say they want to do and their track record on the issues that matter to you. That is the canidate that deserves your vote - not because they belong to any given party.

Congratulations on your newly found voting status! Listen to what Yogs said. And also look at facial/body expression when any political person is being interviewed as well. It can also help you decide on which person you feel you can trust more.

Use common sense, logic, reason and morals and don't put yourself on any political spectrum.

A majority of politicians don't believe in concept of honesty... sad to say, you have very little choice to make a difference..

My own state:

Only difference you can make right now is vote against republicans and stop further chaos by bush and his liar party :/

The internet is a great tool for exploring different viewpoints. Just take whatever you read with a grain of salt, and use your own instincts and intellect to weed out propaganda from the facts.
