Tiburon Trouble (LONG)

I bought a 1999 Tiburon FX about 2 moths ago now; I was looking at '97-'99 Eclipses (mostly RS) but most of them had like 80,000 miles on them and were I didn't want to pay the stiff price for a high milage car. So I saw this Tiburon, a silver FX, complete with CD player and moonroof (sunroof) and black leather seats. Plus it only had 48,000 miles on it, so it's still under warenty. Well I bought it and they dealership payed to pull all the dents out; it got pepered by pea size hail. It took them 10 days to do a 3 day job. Then the radio and CD player got screwed up and the CD won't eject. $150 later and 12 days later (they sent it back to Hyundai!) and then when my car was sitting in the Car Dealership parking lot waiting for it to be picked up, some asshole door dings me! Not once but TWO TIMES (because of the location it cost $400! ) The dent guy also had to paint the door to cover a scracth he made while fixing the dent, he painted the car the wrong color of silver! So about 15 more days I didn't have the car! Then i get the car back and the Air Bag and Check Enginge Light comes on (I take it to the local Hyundai Dealership and they do a tranny flush and all the stuff to keep it under warrenty and fix the problem (Alternator was screwed up-overcharging?) They said that my Car was still under warrenty... I go and pick it up and they said that it wasn't under warrenty- it expired 1 month ago. So I had to pay for a new Alternator, and all of that stuff to keep the (expired) warrenty under warenty. And today the Clock won't work!

All and all I have problably dumped $3,000 into this car in 2 months!

These things that I taked about in the story are just the main things that have gone wrong with the car.

Obviously this car is going to money me to death, so I got to get rid of it.

I'm looking at 2000 area Toyota Celicas, (a '93 Toyota was my last car, I had it for 2 or 3 years and all I had to do to it was put brakes on it twice, one set of new tires and change the oil and other regular do it yourself maintanence.

I probably spent $800 on that car for 3 years V.S. $3,000 for 2 months.

Re: Tiburon Trouble (LONG)

dude, I love Tiburons, but if ANY car/dealership was giving me that much trouble, I would dump it. But I would investigate them starting work under a warrenty and then convenently having it expired when you needed to pay. I would probabaly persue that

UPDATE: I have just ran into some money- 5 grand that the dealer that I bought the car from gave me. I got screwed from when I bought the car and he settled with me and gave me $5,000! So I now can ethier sell the Tiburon or if nothing else goes wrong in a month or so I'm going to start some major upgrades!
