04 Mercury Marauder vs 97 GTP Coupe

I have a friend with a 04 Mercury Marauder w/ mustang cobra engine. He wants to race me... In the 1/8 mile and in the street? What do you think? Marauder gonna smoke me?... It's a very hard competitor...

the way I see it you've got quite a weight advantage...

Marauder ~ 4200lbs
GP ~ 3400lbs

Marauder: 302hp - 318lb/ft
Grand Prix: 240hp - 280lb/ft

I'd say be happy they didn't give the marauder the original ~425lb/ft that it was supposed to have.

I'd say you'd win, as long as you launch well...

Im pretty sure I've seen a Marauder at the track that had intake/exhaust that went low 14's

I think they are low 14 second cars from the factory...

Should be a drivers race

The launch like slugs with all that weight and fairly "low" torque for a land barge...but they will pull nicely up top.

And they have the "old" Cobra engine, not the new one.

They are more like low 15 sec cars in the 1/4 stock

He had more modded then that then

I have seen Heavily Modded(8 to 10 Grand invested) Marauders run high 13s

a gtp is 6.6

yeah.. gtp's should smoke em. a closer race would be a gp gt against one

Well if the torque specs presented by jagx are correct you should smoke it easly. The weight difference is really great in your favor where the torque diff is not as great. It feels awesome to smoke V8 isn't it.
