Talking Supercharged Prelude

JUST WONDERING IF YOU GUYS KNOW OF A CHEAPER WAY TO SUPERCHARGE A PRELUDE THAN A SO CALLED JACKSON RACING KIT. MY LUDE IS CHARGED WITH THE BLOWER FROM A 1GGZE TOYOTA MOTOR, IT RUNS STANDARD PULLEY SIZES AND MAKES ABOUT 205KW OR 278.8HP ON 6PSI BOOST. THIS IS AS FAR AT THE MOMENT, AS WE ARE MAKING A CUSTOM INTERCOOLER TO PUMP IN A LITTLE MORE SPARK. (MD) :frog: SO FAR ITS COST WITH EXTRA INJECTOR ETC ETC. ABOUT $3800 AUS OR $2000 US

Lightbulb 2nd PART OF SUPERCHARGED LUDE

PARTS REQUIRED.

1GGZE BLOWER, EXCHANGE YOUR RADIATOR AND AIRCON CONDENSOR FOR THOSE OUT OF A VTIR CIVIC (NEED THE ROOM) THE CORE ON THE CIVIC IS A LITTLE LARGER BUT SIZE IS OVER ALL SMALLER .MINE HAS NOT OVER HEATED AND THE SMALLER CONDENSOR COOLS THE AIRCON FINE, EXTRA INJECTOR KIT TO BE CONTROLLED WHEN BOOSTING @ 6PSI, MAP CONTROLLER AND PROGRAMABLE UNICHIP OR EQUIVILENT, ALL PIPING IN 65MM AND ALSO YOU NEED TO PURCHASE ANOTHER THROTTLE FACE WHICH IS INSTALLED BEFORE THE BLOWER AS IT IS A POSITIVE STYLE.
AS I HAVE MENTIONED AT BEST FROM IT NATURALLY ASPIRATED THE BEST I GOT WITH ALL THE TWEAKS (EXHAUST, COLD INTAKE ETC) AND THE BEST FUEL IN OZ WHICH IS 98RON (JAPAN IS MIN 100RON NOT SURE ABOUT U.S.)
WAS AROUND 160 KW OR 217 HP AND WITH $3800 AUS HAVE GAINED 45KW OR 60 ODD HORSES (280)
AT THE MOMENT I AM WAITING FOR AN INTERCOOLER TO BE MADE AND IM ALSO INSTALLING A VTEC CONTROLLER AS IT LOOKS ON THE DYNO THAT IT WANTS TO KICK IN AT AROUND 4400 RPM SHOULD ALL BE INSTALLED BY THE 25TH OF JAN AND I'LL GET THE PHOTOS HAPPENING.
HOPE TO GAIN A COUPLE MORE PONIES AS WELL (LOVE TO GET TO 300) AT THE MOMENT IN STADARD FORM IT RACED TO 0 - 60 MPH IN 6.4 SECS AND THE QUARTER MILE IN 14.7 SECS AND NOW WITH THE BLOWER I BROKE A 5.9 SECS 0 - 60 MPH AND A 14.2 QUARTER MILE

HOPE TO BREAK IT TH 13'S (MD)
ANY QUERIES ABOUT THE INSTALLATION JUST TYPE.

The 1ggze is a 2liter, 6cyl engine with an 'SC-14' roots-type blower - so the supercharger is probably sized just about right for the 2.2l H22A. What I can't figure out is how you possibly jammed it under the hood (it looks fatter than the JRSC), how you ran the belt (and jackshaft?), and how you got it to turn clockwise. And just how in heck do you have enough room to add intercooler piping too?

We'd love to see some pics.

Errr. No. But I see what you were thinking.

The Toyota supercharger rotates clockwise - I wouldn't think you can reverse the rotation sucessfully. So you'd have to use a gear or a twisted belt to get the counter-clockwise Honda engine turning the Toyota super clockwise. Hence: "How do you get it to rotate clockwise?"

I also suppose you could modify the housing to drive the opposite rotor, but that doesn't sound easy...

Turns out I was wrong! The SC-14 is fairly symmetrical in construction, so you can spin it backwards.

Here's an email I got from MARKUSIUDIUS
Quote:
THE BLOWER ON THE 1GGZE SPINS EITHER WAY. THE INLET SIMPLY BECOMES THE OUTLET. THE 5PK BELT GOES AROUND THE ALTERNATOR BLOWER AND AIRCON AND YOU TENSION IT WITH THE ALTERNATOR ADJUSTMENT. THE FITTING IS TIGHT BUT WITH A FEW BANGS AND WELL PLACED CUT (EASY). THE COOLER CORE IS 400 X 200 AND ONCE INSTALLED I'LL POST THE PICS.
And here's some pictures I found of the SC-12 (I suspect fairly similar construction to the SC-14):

I think this is the Toyota outlet side, thus the "Honda" inlet side.

Fairly symmetrical, eh?
Very cool!

I guess that he moves the radiator and condesor over to the right and somehow mounts it directly to the block in front of the exahust manifold...

I'm quite anxious to see some pics.

fierce 269 and drift super charger

JUST CHILL A LITTLE U TWO, IN ALL MODS U MUST KNOW THAT THEY TAKE TIME. AS I HAVE STATED THE PICS WILL BE ON THE NET ON THE 25TH TO 28TH OF THIS MONTH. I COULD PUT SOME ON NOW BUT I WANT TO SEND THE BEFORE AND AFTER PHOTOS FOR THAT EXTRA COOL INSTALLATION LOOK AND I NEED MY COOLER FOR THAT.
FIERCE 269, THANKS FOR THE PHOTOS OF THE BLOWER U REALLY KNOW YOUR STUFF AND YOU MUST BE A BIGGER CAR FREAK THAN MYSELF TO PUT YOURSELF OUT FOR THEM (THANKS).
DRIFT ABOUT THE FITTING. IF U WERE LOOKING INTO THE ENGINE BAY FROM THE FRONT OF THE CAR U WOULD SEE THAT THE RADIATOR AND AIRCON CONDENSOR TAKE UP ALOT OF ROOM. THAT IS WHY I SWAPPED MINE AT THE LOCAL HONDA WRECKERS FOR THOSE OUT OF A VTIR CIVIC AND MOUNTED THE CONDENSOR IN FRONT OF THE RADIATOR TO THE LEFT HAND SIDE LOOKING INTO THE CAR.
AFTER THIS THERE IS TONS OF ROOM. ONE OF THE MOUNTS FOR THE BLOWER COMES OF AS AN EXTENSION OF THE ALTERNATOR ADJUSTMENT ARM AND THE OTHER COMES DOWN FROM THE ENGINE LIFTING BOLT AT THE FRONT OF THE CAM COVER.
IT TOOK ALOT OF TRIAL AND ERA BUT IT IS IN NOW AND RUNNING THE NUMBERS. THE BEST ABOUT ALL OF THIS IS THAT IT HAS BEEN PRETTY INEXSPENSIVE AND I SEEM TO HAVE A ONE OF BY THE REACTIONS OF THE PEOPLE I TELL.
IF ANYONE KNOWS OF THIS BEING DONE BEFORE PLEASE TELL.

Re: Supercharged Prelude

hey there guys,

i was quite glad to see alot of u guys interested in the timless legendairy "Prelude" as a real "modern legacy of JDM's". Anyway i think i have a case that might be similar to many of u as i see. i installed a "SC-14" Roots type blower on my H22 Engine "had to get rid of the Power Steering & A/C compressor assembleys to create enough room for the new commer, i have dosens of photos to oshare with u about what i did to accomodate the blower into my engine bay. I would also like to share with u guys my personal experience "i have did all the work myself" & hoping to be able to help & get help for & from every1 here. My car made a lousy "170 bhp" with a really exauhsted engine i guess which had lot's of modifications " Hayami exhaust, air intake, Headers, fuel regulator stage 3 centerforce clutch system, fidanza flywheel & iridium spark plugs". so i installed the blower & went of for a test drive & blew my engine out in the second gear "12 seconds after starting the sc-14" so i said to myself, "man, i need more fuel into the engine, the block must have gone so lean that the piston crown couldn't just fight back" so i sleeved the engine, replaced my pistons with the ZX 300 Turbo "Nissan" which come in the same bore size of 87 mm, adjusted the pin positions tio much the stroke for the old pistons & now i measured the pistons pressure & i got an average of 162 for each of them & tomorrow i'll install the "SAFCII super air fuel conroller II from Apexi company" & roll the car on the dyno to calibrate it & see wheather i will need an extra fuel auxiliary system "namely just an extra injector that starts working when the throttle is wide open" & i'll just see what should come out of that.

Plz share comments & ideas & don't mind be chretisized.

Best Regards,

Shareef

Re: Supercharged Prelude

Your piston choice is niffty. I think the injectors on the H22 are good to about 375 or 400 horsepower. What kinda EMS are u using? How does that supercharger sound? with any motor its all in the tune!
