94 3.4L V6 A/C and window motor questions
Hi,
I have two questions, The first is about the power window motor, I believe the motor is burned out and am planning on replacing it. Do I need any special tools for the job? Or will it be pretty simple? The second question is about a problem I am encountering with the A/C compressor, whenever I have either the A/C or the defrost on and the compressor engages it makes a loud click and my engine starts running rough and lower RPMs, this only happens at idle as far as I know. I heard it could be a sensor, but I don't know of any sensors that deal with the A/C. Any help would be great. |

Need a special tool for the window... I tried and ran into a wall, took it to a pro for $30.

What tool do you need? What does it do? Who on god's green earth did you find to do it for only $30, GM dealer wanted 300+ including parts.

Re: 94 3.4L V6 A/C and window motor questions
I got the motor for free, junk-yard hook-up. I took off the door etc myself, got right down to it and realized I couldn't do it. Took it to this glass guy that works outta a local gas station, he'd done mine before. All he had to do was the motor, I'd put the door back together, so he charged $30.

Re: Re: 94 3.4L V6 A/C and window motor questions
I don't think you need any special tools except maybe a large pop-rivet gun to put the motor back in. My dad and I changed out three of them last summer. It can be a little tricky when changing a bracket from the old one to the new, because there is a very powerfull spring that can snap and hurt you... As for your A/C it sounds like some sort of sensor. When you turn on your a/c at idle the RPMs can go down some but they should recover. The clicking sound is the a/c clutch engaging. If you are going to do your own repairs and such on your car I would recommend getting a Sevice manual.

I now have a service manual, I had to buy one to fix that window. The toughest part was getting the damn bolt/rivet holes to line up again and finish it off. Me and a buddy of mine did the job ourselves, it only took about 6 hours!!! But like I said I wasn't gonna bring it to the dealer and get raped by them, besides I love to work on my car
