Probs

I have a 2000 Toyota Camry LE V6. I bought the camry brand new.
I now have 60k miles on it.

1.The dash board vibrates, this has happened ever since I have had the car.

2.I had an engine oil main seal leak at 50k. The dealer replaced the seal no problem. Plus they threw in a timing belt replacement for free. Guess cause they were in there and it had easy access.

3.The steering wheel makes a squeaking noise when I turn it, it usually only does this first thing in the morning.

My wife has a 2000 Camry LE V6 which we bought new. I also have an intermittent dashboard rattle. Other than that, it's been perfect.

Re: quick opinion on your 1999-2003 camry

I have an '03 Camry LE...I've only had it for a month. PRO: a smooth ride, plenty of power, built to last, big trunk. CON: mileage is not as good as my last car, turn signals are very quiet, and I don't recognize anything under the hood. Everything I used to know about cars is obselete now. It doesn't seem to have a distributor cap---it's all electronic, I think. Wierd. I like it, but...wierd.

I have a '99 Camry. The only mechanical problem was a water pump that was covered under warrenty. It seems to go through tires and front pads quickly but a few people drive it so I can't attribute this to the car. I'll rate it a 9.

Re: quick opinion on your 1999-2003 camry

Bought 2001 camry new and have 3 problems in 2 years. Windsheild broke for new reason in the 1st winter. Then a drivers side rear wheel bearing went bad. And finally, the driver's side window made an awful grinding noise when it closed. All three problems were fixed by the dealer with no issues. I or my family has owned 10 toyotas since 1983 and I have personnaly put over 200k miles on my last two toyotas without any problems. So, I am a little mystified why this camry is underperforming with respect to defects. But hopefully, these issues are finished. By the way, the wife is currently driving a RAV with no issues.

Re: quick opinion on your 1999-2003 camry

I have a 99 XLE v6 that now has about 85K on it. The front strut tower bushings went bad at 39K. Warranty didn't cover replacement. The front end on this car never seemed quite right. I think inferior struts are to blame. The rear O2 sensor went bad causing a check engine light. Dealer had to replace the exhaust manifold along with the sensor because it stripped. I have never had a car go so long without needing front brakes. It went over 80K before the front brakes needed work. It's still on the original rears.

You didn't ask for 2004 Camry opinion but here it is, so far I hate the car because it pulls to the left and they can't or won't fix it. Had it serviced 6 times. Today will be the 7th. So far it gets a 2 rating but only because it has nice power for a 4c and decent gas mileage.

I have had Toyotas since 1980 and I buy them for one reason: Reliability. I have an 03 4-cylinder LE auto trans and it fulfills all of our family needs. It is uninspiring, almost boring, but it does have that Toyota "run forever" thing going for it. I just can't seem to find the oil filter ???????
