Unhappy Help me!!! PLEASE!

Ok... one problem setting me back.
My fuel pump will not turn on.
You might be thinking there's a problem with the main relay... but the main relay is brand new, and checks out fine. When I turn the key on, there is power to the plug that goes to the fuel pump plug just like there is supposed to be UNTIL I plug the lead that comes from the relay into the lead that goes to the fuel pump, at which point, there's no response from the fuel pump, and I'm no longer reading an electrical charge of any kind on the lead. It appears as though something's grounding out somewhere between the plug lead from the relay to the fuel pump, but I've checked and rechecked all the wiring, and nothing is grounding out or hooked up like it's not supposed to... further more, when I run some lead wires directly off the battery, and just to the fuel pump, the fuel pump works, no problem.

The way I'm looking at it right now.. there should be NOTHING wrong with anything between the batter, to the relay, to the fuel pump and my car should start up and be running just like it was..... but for some reason which I cannot find, the fuel pump will not be turned on by the main relay.

Any ideas?

P.S. I've already been trying to fix this very same problem for three, almost four weeks now, with absolutely no luck..... if I don't have the car running in two weeks, I am going to part it out, sell it and buy myself an EP hatch.

checked that. all fuses are fine.
checked all the wires between the main relay and the fuel pump. They're all in good condition.. nothing broken, and nothing grounding out where it shouldn't.
Fuel pump works.
Main relay works.

The main relay provides power to the harness all the way up to the plug that goes to the fuel pump...
At which point if I plug the main relay end plug into the fuel pump plug, all power on the line falls off..... unplug the relay end of the plug from the fuel pump end of the plug again and voltage returns... and I've tried many other variations..... no luck.

Re: Help me!!! PLEASE!

Do you have the service manual? Have you checked for continuity between the harness and the pump plug?

Yes, and Yes.

I've even visually inspected ALL the wiring between the relay... all the way back directly to the fuel pump... nothing grounding... nothing touching. everything appears to be in working order... which is why I'm so baffled.

Only think i can think of suggesting is to start replacing parts with known good parts, like ones of a running car. Im not saying go out an buy a bunch of shit but if you or anyone you know has a parts car, swap some shit over. I have one and since i know exactly how you feel (its wicked frustrating) ill let you have whatever you want for real cheap.

Re: Help me!!! PLEASE!

i've read somewhere that an ECU may not ground the fuel pump, not allowing it to turn on. and the ECU not code, nor say it's bad........?

relay is new... all the wiring between the relay and the connector to the fuel pump appears as new... all the wiring from that connector to the fuel pump I've visually inspected and is in good condition with no bent or broken ends... fuel pump is brand new (though that might help).

This problem really started for no reason... the car started one day... ran fine.... came back about 5 days later, with absolutely NOTHING changed or even moved during those 5 days, to start it up again to show some friends, and that's when this whole mess started.
Been trying to figure it all out for nearly a month now.
