AEM V2 on RSX Type S

Any of you all with the V2 on your type S, what do you think about it. How are the gains. Can you tell a diffrentce in 0-60 and 1/4 mile times? How does the ower band change? Any dynos would be helpful.

Go to www.clubrsx.com and look in the tech directory, they did a shitload of dyno's on the AEM short ram intake, AEM cold air intake, Injen intake, and the AEM V2 on an RSX Type S. By the way, the Injen won overall.

how high above the ground is the Injen, do you have to cut anything to install it?

No, the Injen is a piece of cake. You dont have to cut anything or replace the stock windshield wiper resevoir (as is the case with the AEM CAI). Hydrolocking is not a concern as the Injen is at the same height as the stock airbox. You dont have to remove your bumper or anything else other than the airbox. Heck, if your impatient get yourself a ractive wire mesh filter and a 4" dia. x 6" length PVC pipe, a pair of metal hose clamps and some rubber hose clamps like I did. The sound is incredible, its really loud at full throttle around 3-5k rpm, and it costs a heck of a lot less. Eventually im going to get an Injen, but for now i need to get my lip kit painted and installed, as well as my grounding kit and pulley kit. By the way, the AEM CAI is louder than the Injen, but my custom method is loudest ive ever heard, and there is a noticeable difference in power according to my Butt Dyno.

Are you talking about the Injen Race Division or the Short Ram they make?

The short ram intake is at the same height as the stock airbox. the short ram beat AEM's short ram and had more torque but less HP than the AEM V2. The race div. CAI won overall. If your worried about hydrolocking then i would get the Injen and buy an AEM universal bypass valve and put it on too. Im not sure if it fits a Type S Injen CAI, but it fits the base 5 speed as my friend has an Injen CAI with an AEM bypass valve. Also, the Injen is much easier to install than the AEM (I have Injen CAI and my friend has an AEM CAI, we both helped eachother).

Do you have any idea if that bypass valve losses much horsepower?

yes it loses a few HP, if i was you i would get a cheaper SRI for bad months and a CAI for good weather. i have a beater Subaru for bad weather so hydrolocking is not a concern for me.

Your acura dealer ever said anyhitng to you about any of your mods? Especially the intake.

I recently purchased an Acura RSX Type S from Reading Acura in PA. I have already put in an Injen CAI, and custom cat back exhaust. I am only pulling 167hp at the wheels when I had it dyno'd. The exhaust didn't add any power, and if anything... took power away! That is only a very small pick up from stock. Overall, I believe it is worth it. TakimotoRacing; I tried your custom intake on my '92 Dodge Dynasty. It does it sounds fricken awesome. I know it's only a Dynasty but I have beaten stock Mustangs with it at the local drag strip. I got my quarter second down to 14.84 with my Dynasty. Thats after major weight reduction though.
Back to my RSX though, I plan on turboing it asap. I don't care about my warranty. I am only driving it a few months a year. I am also going to get an authentic C-West body kit for it also. I do not know what style as of yet though. I purchased the beautiful blue color that they come in, can't think of the name off the top of my head, so it's gonna be pretty difficult to get aftermarket body parts painted unless I go to my Acura dealer. I also plan to get a CF hood for it. Does anyone know where I can get a moderately cheap CF hood?

Did you gain as much horsepower as a convential CAI. If not how much?If so did you come close to the V2 AEM and why would you buy a CAI? Basically I like your idea because a cheap alternative but i want to be sure i get enough HP from it.

Which C-West? The lip or full bumper replacement? Either way they look great.

As for painting it, body shops don't have problems with arctic blue. Its the white on the RSX they have problems with. And who do you think paints the kits? Not acura dealers but a local body shop. So yes, go to the local shop and save money (make sure they have a good reputation though, talk to others).

And your power....167 is way too low, even stock you should be getting 170-180. Was it very hot? High altitude? Was the HVAC on? Did you notice a gain in power with the new mods? Whats the size of the exhaust piping?

He did say that the new exhaust took some HP away. Maybe he dynoed it with the new exhaust on?

That's odd.....unless the piping on the exhaust was huge and/or it was a dual....
