Unhappy Enamel, acrylic, oil ... ?!?!

I would like to know as much as possible about types of spray can colors. What is exact difference between acrylic, oil based and enamel paint? How these colors mix ? let's say acrylic for window trim areas and enamel for whole car coat?
Is there something that I should be aware of? At the store, there are mostly acrilic paints. Will it be OK to put some Revell Model color over the acrylic?
I'm kinda confused about these things and I don't want to mess up the models.
Thanks

gee, overlooked that one.
Anyway, the question still remains. I saw Automotive Acrylic paints. Does that mean having Automotive paint with behavior of Acrylic paint?
Also I found in the garage Chrome paint on which it says "Acrylic Enamel Paint"

If I were you I would tend to stay away from anything that has been in your garage(who knows how old it is). I use tamiya paints(laquers) and love them. But thats just my 2 cents

This is purely my personal preference... I think Gunze Sangyo Hobby Color(might say Aqueous on the label) is the best bottled acrylic paint for models. They run much smoother on airbrush than Tamiya Acrylics. It seems like Gunze paints requires very little thinning(I use alcohol) compared to Tamiya's.

I'd also recommend using spray cans. I used to think using spray cans were sorta "cheating" but they work great and save time!
