evaporation leak

I'm asking this for a friend. Her left blinker started blinking faster than normal. Took it to a dealer and they said it was a fuse. Changed fuse didnt work. 9 fuses blown since putting in new one. when attempting to use left blinker again smoke came from steering column. Now has no blinkers at all. check engine light came on. went to autozone and they hooked up to the computer and said she had a evap large leak. what does this really mean and how seriours is it? does this really effect the blinkers. please help need to know what needs to be done really fast.

No way thats related. If your fuses keep blowing, then you've likely got a short-to-ground somewhere.
