help with my 75 impala

I have a '75 Impala, but I really don't know a whole lot about impala's in general.I recently replaced the powersteering pump and brake master cylinder, am looking to replace the carb. and possibly exhaust soon but don't know what to buy or where to buy it. It only has 120k original miles and most parts on it are the original stock parts.Anyone know some online stores i could look at? or maybe some sites to help out an impala newbie? i know more about honda's, and i dont even own one Anyhow, the car drives great and we've had it painted once, but they did a crappy job and since then ive had a very unfortunate run in with a telephone pole causing some damage to the front passenger quarter panel.Anyhow, any help would be appreciated.If you want, I can post up a couple pics of her.

Your car is almost identical to the caprice, which makes it a B body, also shared with pontiac pariessenne? buick park avenue and olds ninety eight(maybe eighty eight) i believe. Finding parts for these cars is very cheap, and easy, there are plenty in junkyards around the U.S. IF you want new exhaust, headers can be found at Jegs.com or summitracing.comand any competent exhaust shop can bend true duals for reasonable prices. What really makes ur car cool theough is that it is emissions exempt(olderthen25 years old) so if you want to put a 454 into it go right ahead. Basically your car is a smogger, very crappy gas mileage with too much emissions equipment and not enough power. Quadrajet carbeurators are very easy to come by and are very cheap to have rebuilt.

Thanks for your help, and yes it does get crappy gas mileage but it's just so much fun to drive. I'm not really sure why it just is. Anyhow, if I switch to a 4 barrel I would assume gas mileage would drop quite significantly over getting a new or perhaps rebuilt 2 barrel. I would really like to restore it for the most part, with a few little modifications here and there. But anyways thanks again.

Actually... if you switch to a quadrajet 4-barrel(people call them quadra junk) it will actually get better gas mileage. The primaries(front 2 barrels) are much smaller than ur current 2 barrell. But when the secondaries open they are huge you will feel a swift kick in ur pants as opposed to the 2 barrell. you can get better gas mileage if you stay out of the 4 barrels. Headders will definitely improve gas mileage and horsepower as well. By increasing volumetric efficiency they improve horsepower and driveability as well. The only down side is that u'll have to find a 4 barrell manifold for the carb. and swap it. It can be very challenging to a first timer. Good luck!

Just don't change any parts with the engine warm or hot. Make sure it is stone cold.

i agree jegs and summit are the bibles of highperformance
and the quadra junk is the best working carb you can bolt on that chevy
i run a 750q-jet and i love it
btw, do your self a favor and get rid of the stock camshaft while your under the hood, chevys stock cams are garbage, if youve got a 350, use a comp cams xtreme energy 262, heheh lost of good streetable power

Excellent cam choice! but don't forget that his car weighs well over 4,000 pounds a tourque converter with about a 2,200 stall would work well also. All q-jets were 750 cfm(even the smallest ones on 305 and carbeurated turbo buicks) the only ones that weren't came on 455's 800 cfm and 454 also 800 , the biggest ones(850) came on superduty pontiac 455's( 73-75? s. d. firebirds) pretty rare and expensive. a 750 will precicely deliver fuel on any engine up to about 420 cubic inches(running at 100% V.E.)and an 800 will feed up to about 470 cubic inches.Q-jets do rock, they deliver superior driveability and performance while getting excellent fuel mileage(my brother's built 455 buick reached well over 16 mpg when tuned properly, just give the folks at JET performance a call, tell them what uv'e got and they'll send u the stuff u'll need to get ur cars fuel tuned right.
