few Q's on the FC

My buddy is giving me a black RX7 non turbo (forget year, late 80's) 5speed that is shot and has a bad engine. I searched around on this forum and would like to confirm a few thing-

1. 13B turbo II is a strait drop in?

2. Do rx-7s come with LSDs or would i have to buy/install an aftermarket one?

3. While i have the engine out do your recommened any performance mods, I would like to run high 12's low 13's I know these engines can handle a shit load of power and it shouldnt take that much to get into 12's, around 300hp to the wheels, am i correct? I think 300hp is a little much for me, what do you guys recommend for about 250hp.

4. Rotaries with exhaust sound like ass, is there anyway i can quite it down? Such as resonators or capping the muffler.

5. How much PSI can the stock turbo safley push?

Im gonna tear down the non turbo engine and see if i can find/fix whats wrong with it for more experiance on these engine, what manual do you guys recommend, are there any rebuild kits i can buy?

You want to run 12's AND restrict your exhaust? HA!

As far as the motor drop in: you need the motor (duh), harness, Turbo tranny, driveshaft and rear end. I wouldn't push more than 12PSI on the stock turbo. To even get to that point you will need some extensive mods...

The turbo will quiet the exhaust a bit... but it'll still be pretty loud for the power and 1/4 times you're looking for. The rx came with a pretty decent rear diff for autocross, but you may want to look into something more specific for drag. to get up to 300 hp, you will definetly need to do some type of port... if you're looking for a drag specific car that's semi relialble, you could possibly go with a bridgeport. if it's a daily driver, i wouldn't do more than street port.

interesting, i dont realy want to restrict exhaust just quite it down. 250hp seems to be pretty good to me, to the wheels tho. Still i have a few Q's remaining

1. Does the RX7 come stock with LSD?
2. How much will a street port cost?

I'm pretty sure the TII, the vert, and the GTUs are the only ones that came with LSD, look it up on google.

street port is usually around 350-450 depending on the place that does it.

Convertibles didnt come with LSD...

With exhaust and a street port on a TII 13B you will have around 250-270 hp.

Unless you do fuel upgrades, keep your boost down to 8.6 psi on 87-88 or 9.0 psi on the 89-91 engines.

where does it cost 350-450 bucks for a street port? I've seen like 5 places that do it for 200-250(although this is if the engine is out already or its being rebuilt and the labor for removing the engine goes with the rebuild) I don't know, seems high to me though

didn't the sport rx come with an lsd? maybe i'm just smokin something. o well, either way, look at torsen difs, they're pretty good for just about anythng since they're a friction based diff.
