Good intakes for Evo8

What up fellas? I just picked up a 2003 Evo8 with about 8K on the Odo. I want to start trickin it out and have everything picked out except the intake, anyone like one over the other? or should I just pick one? Lemme hear from ya. thanks.

Re: Good intakes for Evo8

Hi EVO,

My understanding is that the stock intake on the EVO 8 is quiet with good flow.

You should be careful with upgrading the intake. Every intake review I've seen produced less power then stock before retunning. Most thinks this is due to intake pulse interactions with the MAP sensor.

Therefore, if you are looking for better sounding intake or looks, intake upgrade is easy. However, if you're looking for performance, you might want to add the $200+ dyno tunning above and beyond the cost of a free flowing intake.

Just my 2 cents.

Please let us know how your upgrades go.

What other upgrades are you planning? I'm hoping at least a S-AFC or some other form of fuel management? This should be done before you change out the intake on these cars - intakes don't do much for boosted cars like they do for N/A cars. Once you get everything else done, Dejon Tool makes some nice, affordable intake pipes - as I said though, once you're done with all the other important stuff.
