People Who Drive Glass Dodges...

Hey all,

I'm new to the site, but have been a Dodge man all my life, and own a highly mod'd '72 Challenger.

This thread is to ask for help. In 1994, I had a '74 Challenger with a swiss cheese frame, and went looking for a new body to swap all of the goodies out of the '74. Although I wanted a '70, my mechanic found a '72. It was STRIIPPED!! Just a bare shell. No rolling stock, no interior, dash, wires NUTHIN!! Here's the catch. The ENTIRE body is light-weight fibreglass. The only non-frame steel on it is the roof and the A and C pillars. The fenders, doors,quarters,lift-off deck lid and lift off two-scoop rallye hood are all glass! It was originally B5 blue, but was faded really bad from sitting in a field for over 20 yrs. I swapped in my warmed over 440 (from a '69 Charger) welded in an 8-point cage, and put in aluminum tubs. With the 727, 8 3/4 rear, and all other go-goodies, it's curb weight is 3,300Lbs. When I swap out the stock cast-iron intake, lighten up a few other bits n' pieces, it'll weigh even less. It currently runs 500HP and low 11's, but I have to ask..has anybody EVER seen or heard of another ALL fibreglass Challenger??

I don't know the origin of this car, or where it came from. I was told that maybe it was a car that Dodge raced in '72, and that's why it's Petty Blue and all glass, but I have no way to back this up.

Thoughts??

It was probably so rotten that whoever rebuilt it, rebuilt it with fibreglass. Now it's a Corvette.
