Navigation system keep ejecting Nav CD..?

Hi All
I just got the 97 740il with the nav with TV. After driving it for a week the system keep ejecting the cd out after turn the car off. I keep trying to reinsert it and it will stay after several attempts and the nav system work fine until the next stop and it will eject the cd out again. I have MarkI ( Male voice) but don't know what version is the Nav CD. I am thinking of upgrading the software but want to take care of the ejection problem first. I really need help here .. all advises will be greatly appreciated.

Hmmm. Wierd problem-reminds me of a "war story". When I was in the Air Force we were sending our F-4s a few at a time back to McDonnell-Douglas in St. Louis (now Boeing) for some modifications. When the first two arrived back and the pilots shut down the engines, both wing-mounted external fuel tanks on both airplanes fell off onto the tarmac! This is not good.

Anyway, about your CD popping out when you shut down...my advice is this:
1) Read through your owner's manual and see if there is a way to reset the computer that controls the nav system. If there is no procedure, look through the list of fuses and find the one(s) for the nav system and remove it/them. Wait a few minutes and replace them. A reset just might do the trick. Also, you might try to take off the electrical connector for the CD nav drive and wait a few minutes before putting it back on.

2) If that doesn't work, go to www.roadfly.org, find the appropriate discussion board for your model and search the archives. If nothing is found then post your problem there and maybe someone can help you locate a repair facility.

I have a '97 with the same problem, except I can't get the CD player to hold the disc in at all! No one seems to know how to fix it. Have you solved the problem in your car?

If they are original disks and not copies the unit may have taken a dump. Copies sometimes will not load after awhile or at all. I can't remember exactly what happened but your units may have just lived out their lives.
