Angry Starter Click is BACK!!!!

Well, once again this morning, the damn Dodge won't start. All I'm getting is the "click" that I posted about the other day.

After removing and testing the starter and solenoid, everything tested fine. Once it was re-installed, it continued to work fine and we spent two days driving around town starting and stopping at multiple places.

Then, this morning the problem is back. The difference now is that I could hear a blower motor running (radiator fan???) when I tried starting the van. When I turn the key to "start" the fan pulls down as if there is a power drain -- which I would expect given that additional electricity is being used to turn the starter motor. All I get from the starter is a 'click' with no activation on the starter.

I've cleaned all the terminals really well prior to re-installing the starter so there shouldn't be any corrosion on them to impede electical flow.

Any more ideas or should I just replace the bloody starter outright and be done with it despite the fact that it tested okay at the autoparts store.

Thanks for the input folks! Personally, I'd rather scrap the Caravan, but that's not an option.

""When I turn the key to "start" the fan pulls down as if there is a power drain""

Actually relay control.

I lived with a clicking starter problems for almost a year, replaced it and haven't had a prob. since.

Mines a 92 Plymouth Voyager, the starter was pretty cheap..$125 CDN

Have you checked the battery? With the old 93 Plymouth Voyager we had, one day it just stopped turning over at all, nothing. Changed the starter, and still didn't work, replaced the battery, and that did the trick.

Re: Starter Click is BACK!!!!

Starter contacts are very bad in Denso starters. You can pick up a pair for a few bucks at your local parts depot (Napa for sure). You can install them yourself in about an hour or two.
Otherwise just replace the starter.
