I'm still having some real sqeaking problems with my tahoe. It seems that the culprit is the a/c pulley. I would like to put a set of after market pulleys on. Can anyone tell me if they sell these. If so, what should i look for or be warry of when i do purchase them. I'm thankful for any help i can get with this problem, the sqeaking makes my powerful 350 sound like it's being powered by gerbils on an exersize wheel. very embarrising, especialy at the drive-thru!!

First determine where the squeak is coming from. Take the belt off and spin each pulley listen for slight squeaks or a rough "grind" sound. If the pulleys do not spin fairly free, or make a sound, they could be the culprit. The pulley tensioner is fairly famous for squeaking. Not the pulley itself, but the spring inside the tensioner. At an idle the tensoiner will "bounce" a little, causing variations in the belt tension and a squeak. If you can see it bounce pretty bad then I would suggest looking at it closer, if it does not offer much resistance when you take the belt off then the spring in side has weakened over time. When did you last put on a new belt? Also check for dirt build up in the grooves, this can cause funky noises. Spring for the good belt, goodyear gator back or some name brand, buying the cheap ones is asking for trouble. A crank pulley will spin slower, but it can effect you alternator output at an idle. The A/C pulley is servicable, you can replace it, some a/c compressor pulleys aren't. It replaces the pulley and the bearing.
