Lightbulb Making a Show Car of the 3000GT

Well I got my 3000GT a few months ago and have been deciding on the path I want to take it. I was considering doing performance for speed, cosmetics for exterior, or a hybrid of both. I decided after going to a major car show this weekend im going with mainly show so I can be in shows while occassionally working on performance. I was depressed because out of nearly 800 cars there wasnt one 3000GT in the actual show. I have begun my list of designing my exterior and see what the publics opinion is.

1)Clear Corners - 80$
2)Blitz Bumper - ?
3)97 OEM Hoop Spoiler - 350$
4)Intrax Lowering Springs - 250$
5)Viper Style Hood - 600$
6)Enkei 18" Rims - 900$
7)Green Underbody, UnderDash, Front Bumper Neons - 350$

yea, if you want to do something to a body, do a 99 conversion, 3sx performance sells it (www.3sxperformance.com) and whatever you do, STAY AWAY FROM THE NEON LIGHTS!!!!

Re: Making a Show Car of the 3000GT

Yeah I kinda feel the same way about the neon lights...but to each his own. That's awesome to here that you will be representing our cars in a show though. I think a little representation definantly couldn't hurt. Last summer I wanted to put my car in the town's carshow simply because it was 99% domestic and had only 3 or 4 imports: some italian which I can't remember, 2 hondas and an eclipse. So I wouldn't mind putting mine in there to give the v8s some friendly competition. However, I blew a tire the day before the show and my new one had not come in time. And I didn't feel right being in a show on a donut. So I'm saving it for next year.
Aces, congrats on becoming a moderator.

Your 1996 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 is the 92nd out of the 315 that were made that year. Only 21 of which are exactly identical.

Re: Making a Show Car of the 3000GT

Yeah I've never seen a 3000 at a car show either. Would put mine in one, but I just got a stock SL so... I'm waiting Plus I don't know if I would put much money into looks for my car. Every spare cent I'd have would go in the motor and the only thing I'd change about the looks would be to get lighter rims. But yeah, I'm a big fan of the 99 front ends too. The Viper style hoods are nice, same with the 97 spoiler. But.. I'm gonna go with the general will here and say stay away from the neons...

Re: Making a Show Car of the 3000GT

Only reason I would have neons would be that they seem to be a plus to the judges. As long as it follows the color scheme of the car and the bulbs are hidden well it can look nice.

go with neons on the car it will make it look nicer...especially for judges, but good luck with the project and go with a blitz or shogun kit

Talking

There's a ton of great 3000GT show cars out there, check out the www.3si.org events page for 3000gt/Stealth only car shows.

Re: Making a Show Car of the 3000GT

Thanks Igo, but it's not for this forum.

Blitz is really overdone with Eclipses and Civics. I like something smoother with a little less jagged lines, but I guess it's just me.
