1997 Civic EX vs 1997 Accord EX
last night i went over to my buddies house to hang out, when i got there one of his friends awas over and he had an accord so we decided to race. hes got an accord ex v-6 automatic bone stock against my civic ex with exhaust and a short shifter.
i had him off the line and i just kept pulling on him till i had a carlength and a half when i shut it down at 80. i was surprised that he never started to gain on me.

If you guys went into the triple digits, he would've started to pull back.

Re: 1997 Civic EX vs 1997 Accord EX
what year v6? my buddy has a 02 v6 auto and its pretty peppy for a family car
why do you list short shifter as a mod? it doesent do anything for performance...

Re: 1997 Civic EX vs 1997 Accord EX
it does make you quick if you just stop and think about the science of it. for example with made up figures, stock shift is a 4 inch throw and it takes like a half second to move that but with a short shifter it cuts that almost in hlaf so therefore it doesnt take as long from gear to get so then you can let off the clutch and get through the next gear faster.

well, the accord was a stock automatic, so you can't accelerate in wide open throttle like in a manual tranny.
if it was going uphill, the accord would most likely win. you'll still be limited by how fast you can release the clutch. |

theres a nice little gimmick in the jcwhitney catalog:
arospeed quick clutch adjuster kit -shortens shifts by reducing the distance your clutch pedal needs to be depressed -attaches directly to the clutch pedal -works as a pedal stopper to reduce shift time blah blah blah price-49.95 I seriously doubt its practical use, but it is true that in quick shifting many people just slam the pedal in all the way even though about 3/4 of the way the clutch is disengaged....but 50 bucks? hell a couple pieces of plywood and some screws will serve the same purpose-ghetto mind you, but still
