Race Card #5-'63 Chevrolet
Ford's worst nightmare, at least until the Hemis arrived the next year. The wild man from Ronda helped replace the stills with chicken houses in the mountains of NC. Don't really know if it was any less work but have you ever heard of the Revenue boys raiding a chicken house? Yeah, I know, they were those with the stills under them but they don't count.

Sweet dude, I never figured out why anyone wants to race Impalas though, too big in my opinion.

Re: Race Card #5-'63 Chevrolet
Before the "jelly bean" handbuilt cars of today Nascar raced real cars. They had to be fullsized American made sedans with modifications for safety only. In the early years they didn't even have to have roll bars. The Impala was the same size as the Ford Galaxies and a little smaller than the Pontiacs and Mercurys it raced against. That was way back when the "stock" in "stock car racing" really meant something. Can you imagine taking a showroom Monte Carlo to Daytona today?
