Acceleration

Hey guys, i've just been down to see my VR4 at the docks, and took it for a small spin around at the dockside. I found that the acceleration wasn't as rapid as i thought it might be. Now this might just be me being acceleration hungry or (i've been told) being on the ship's container getting over here, the petrol might have gone off,and won't be so potent. Ummm...wat else, oh, i could spay some WD40 oil into the air intake of the turbos. Is there anything else i could do to it, if she's been sitting around for a bit? Cheers guys.

well is this the first fast car you've been in? my friend when i first gave him a spin in my dads c5 vette wasn't impressed, he was expecting for it to warp or something, but after he felt the power of other fast cars that werent as fast he then felt how fast it was. what year vr4 do you have? turbo's could be going bad, could be a multiple of things

Re: Acceleration

When I drove my car for the first time, she had been sitting around for about 2 and a half years so she was a little slow to respond and stuff. I let her sit and idle for a while and then just took it easy for a couple days. Drove her easy till I was out of the old gas, then put new gas in and started drivin her a little harder. Worked pretty good for me. Just be happy that you have a VR4... what are us SL and base people supposed to say?

Re: Acceleration

No, I'm only 26 but had 31 cars, 12 of these have been sports cars. She's a '92 model. I feel she has plenty of torque just don't feel very pokey. It might even be cause she's so heavy and solid that she just feels sluggish, but obviously only driving her round the docks, i couldn't compare her to any other cars on the road.

Re: Acceleration

hey jay still not got it yet then? believe me jay, when a car does 5's to 60 and a standing 1/4 mile in 13's stock, these things dont hang around.im always pushing over the speed limit without realising and ive had mine nearly 2 years. i still smile when i open the throttle. i recommend you get that looked at before you hand over your hard earned cash. i also wouldnt spray anything into the turbo intakes as oil does not pass into that part of the turbo charger.hope this helps.
brian.
