Spoon Sports Honda Fit (R) 9 Pics
Hello everyone! Here's my latest build, it's the Tamiya Honda Fit customized with decals from Joeclaw (thanks again Joe!). The painting process was somewhat of a challenge, but came out pretty good. Tamiya light blue, flat white, chrome yellow, and a little bit of Bare Metal Foil were used to re-create this Spoon Sports Racer. Once all of the colors dried, I clear coated the body and polished it. Detail master hood pins and seatbelt harness were used. I found the driver at my LHS, and had the spoon wheels in my spare parts bin. I made the roll cage and tow hooks out of styrene rod, added a fuel cell, and drilled the rotors. The exhaust was another spare item.
I think this was a fun kit to build, as well as a cool car to replicate. My wife didn't like the panel lines. What do you think?? Russ ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

I like it, even with the panel lines. The driver really adds the feel to it too.

Spoonman,
It's spot on! Just like the real one in the pic! The panel lines look clean, maybe too thick but that's better than I could ever do...nice cage. Was it hard to paint the yellow/white/blue transition? You totally pulled it off. |

GREAT JOB!!!! but perhaps you should consider using gray or dark yellow for the panel lines. :Bigthumb:

Agree that dark yellow panel lines might be better
but that aside it's a top job

Re: Spoon Sports Honda Fit (R) 9 Pics
Totally killer. Great job. Great in all the little details, and the driver makes it just that much better. Great work on the paint, too, I guess light blue is the way to go on Spoon racers (though I always thought it darker than in your reference picture.)

Re: Spoon Sports Honda Fit (R) 9 Pics
very nice job, im not so sure about the panel lines i think the dark yellow, or maybe thinner lines would have made it better...

Thanks for the replys guys. The driver did add the touch it needed. To answer 675 Datsun's question, I painted the car flat white.
Then I sprayed the light blue and sanded. Next, I masked the blue with bare metal foil and sprayed flat white for the stripe. I then masked the stripe and sprayed the yellow. Once everything was dry, I removed the masking tape and the BMF, wash in warm soap water, decaled, clear coated, polish, clearcoat, and final polish. Hope this answers all questions. |
