Angry wet floor

Can anyone tell me why my driver side floor board in a 96 grand am is always wet. I know that if it were the pass. side it is most likely the heater core. Can anyone help

Re: wet floor

leaky windows or leaky windshield maybe. get someone to spray the windows while your inside the car and look close for leaks. Also take a good look at the black weather stripping in the door jams is it torn or loose or fallen off completely?

Re: wet floor

The only leaks into my car come from the air intake for the vents , but thats only the passenger side that gets wet , he said the drivers side pontdriver , the intake would leak on the passenger side DEFINATELY! Make sense?

Re: wet floor

I'm assuming, contrary to Markgase200 that you mean INSIDE the car. If you have a sunroof, it was real common for the drains to clog up down inside the a-pillar. Water backs up and runs down the a-pillar trim down to the floor.
Another thing to look for besides around the windshield is if anyone drilled a hole in the firewall for wires or whatever. No one seals these holes well and there is alot of water spraying on the firewall when it rains.
On some cars it is also possible for the heater core to leak out onto the driver's side only, I'm not sure on this one.

I have the same problem, its the driver's side, mines in the rear. *i park in on a upward hill, but have tried on flat, same result* Every time it rains, and only when it rains do i get a huge ass puddle. We're talking an inch or so. I've replace the weather striping on the door and some thing in the door, and no help. Lemme know what you find out.

Re: wet floor

I have to apologize to pontdriver , i hate sounding rude in forums . Just impossible to know the problems for sure is all. The heater core can leak , windows , weather strips , windshield seals , missing insulation from front fenders that keep the elements out , leaky sunroof's and more. Seen alot of back windows leak and flood the rear floors the head liner was soaked as well. Heater core is second most common i heard , but most common we found at the shop was goin through the intake like mine and pooling under the underlay then water would rot the underlay and wreak of mildew.
Put you hand under the carpets under lay on the passenger side it will be wet and its the most important thing to keep dry in my mind. (hates the shitty diaper smell of mildew)

Re: wet floor

It could be the trunk seal or the seal surrounding the lights in the back. When it rained the inside of my trunk would fill up and leak past the back seats into the front of the car you might want to get a water test and make sure that the seal is stoping the water from leaking into the trunk

Re: wet floor

Antifreeze has a pretty distinctive smell. If it was the heater core, you should be able to tell, especially if the car has been sitting for awhile.

Talking wet floors

I have a 96 grand am and have had the same problem with water on both the drivers side and the passangers side.
If you open up the doors and look in between were the door attaches
to the body of the car the rubber piece was not properly on. So the water was getting in from there. Reattached the rubber piece silconed grease around the rubber and it was fixed la la. good luck
