Resetting "Oil Change" light.
My "Oil Change" started coming on last week, so I drove my 2001 FireBird TransAm into Jiffy Lube to get an oil change. But after I had that done, the "Oil Change" light would still come on. After Googling for a bit, I found out how to reset the light so now it doesn't come on any more. But was that a good idea? Did Jiffy Lube forget to do something or do you have to always manually reset the light after an oil change?
Thanks. |

Re: Resetting "Oil Change" light.
Taking it to Jiify lube in the first place wasn't a good idea...
Anyone have any good Jiff Lube walmart/ quick lube stories ??

Ever notice how they always manage to find something else wrong with the car, making the final bill almost 100 bucks? Those phuckers.
Maybe I should start doing it myself ... I read up on it and it doesn't look to be too hard. I'd still need to dispose of the oil though and the river is too far from house. Just kidding... I wonder what deal is with that light though. Doing some more Google searches, it seems lots of people have issues with that light, but so far I've haven't seen anything to indicate that "yes, you'd need to manually reset the Oil Change light after an oil change". |

This is what you do.......Turn the car on, not the engine but turn the key so that all the lights come on and you here the "ding, ding, ding" sound. Then, hold down the reset button on your dash that is right by the mileage for 15 seconds, 20 secs just to make sure. And that is how you reset the light. But just because you reset the light doesn't mean you have good oil. The sensor doesn't read the oil level, it reads when the last time you put oil in. It is computer set to come on after a certain amount of miles. So whenever you get your oil changed, directly after you do, reset the miles. Also, if you are still unsure, check the pontiac hand manual found in your glove box.
