Outside trim turning white

Hey guys, I am pretty new here and have a quick question. I have a 89 CRX and the black trim molding that runs down the length of the car is starting to turn white. Someone mentioned that it may be oxidizing (sp?), is there any way to fix this other than replacing the pieces? I gently scraped it with my fingernail and it came right off but that will take me forever to do the whole car. I would appreciate any info. Thanks!

Get some Mother's "Back to Black". I've also used Black Magic Tire Wet before, worked pretty damn good.

There's always the option of painting them! Worked wonders and looks a hell of a lot sharper than the plane black that was on them in the first place.

Yeah that stuff works wonders. I used some that my dad bought on my side mouldings so that theyd look good while im waiting to shave em. But now that i used the back to black it looks so nice and clean that i think im gonna keep them on.

Whats this back to black you speak of? Ive never even heard of it?? I used tire shine a couple times, never helped all that much, so now that my car is primered, I just primered it with the rest of the car, I figure I'll either paint them or pull them off and fill it in the make the door panal just one plane.



Every time I post like this...I think to myself "God I'm so helpful" lol

I have heard of "Back to Black", they told me about it at Auto Zone but they were out of it. From what they told me it sounds kinda like Armor All, where did you get yours at?

maybe you can paint the mouldings with black spray paint? i was thinking of just doing that with my fading trim mouldings

you can get it at almost any parts store. If that autozone is like the one i used to work at then theyll get another shipment of stuff on mondays. So i would check back on tuesday or wednesday.

Back to black is made by Mothers . The stuff I use on my moldings is made by Meguiars

I got some of the "Back to Black" today, I had to go to 3 Auto Zones to find it. Damn, that stuff is awesome! Thanks for all the help guys! I may try the peanut butter thing someday.
