Flashing light of Air Conditioning

I have more questions.
I have 1997 GS with hand operated Air Conditioning (AC). I have a button which I can pres one to get orange light and press twice to get green light (in both cases AC is working).
I'd like to know what orange and green lights mean - is orange for normal conditioning and green for more powerful?
(BTW: I don't have a manual so I don't know).

And another one: sometimes orange or green light starts to flash and AC stops working. What does this mean? Too less AC gas? Do I need to refill?

Thanks for answers.

Re: Flashing light of Air Conditioning

not sure if its the same but 1st gen the orange light means that it only goes on at a certain temp and green means that it stays on

Re: Flashing light of Air Conditioning

Its just the difference between low (for better economy, AC kills your gas mileage) and high (for maximum cooling). When I used to have working AC I'de blast it on max to get things cooled down then cruise with it on low. American cars have the same thing, its just "normal" and "max" or similar.

Re: Flashing light of Air Conditioning

i have a problem with my 96 rs...it has just a green light ont the button but when the car is running...the gren light comes on..blows cold air...for like 10-15 secs...then the light flashes on and off and iut no longer blows cold....but if u keep pressing the button every 10-15 seconds...the AC blows cold continuously....its weird cause when the car is just on battery power it doesnt blink..it doesnt blow cold either....ive taken it into the shop and asked like 3-4 places and they never figure out anything wrong cause they just hook it up to theere AC machine and dont actually look at the problem i tell them about.

EVoClipse: it could be that you have loosen belt. This is also what I have now and I've heard from some other forum. Check the belt.
