Question Good deal?

Ok heres the story. I have a 91 Civic HB. A woman hit me, I have a bodykit front bumper and Z3 fenders that will take care of it and I am getting $1200. Well I know a guy that paints cars. He said he will paint my car for a 350 chevy engine I have in my old car I wrecked.

Well he had a fiero sitting out there that he painted about 1 1/2 -2 yrs ago. It's metalic green, looks great. Perfect interior, 5 speed, the 4cyl model. Well it's his sons and they are selling it. They want $500 for it, he says the motor needs to be rebuilt because it burns oil/smokes. Is this worth $500? How hard is it to rebuild the motor, what other options are there as far as different motors.

Re: Good deal?

the motor swaps are endless.. you could do anything from a 2.8/3.4 3400, 3.4 DOHC/TDC, 3800, 3800sc, LS1, LT1, 4.9.

Doesn't sound bad at all if the interior and all is perfect heck I paid $1000 for my 84 had 54,000 faded painted, busted windshield, I got it all fixed except for the paint.

All depends what you want its pretty much endless!

Re: Good deal?

Well I need something to use as a daily driver. My civic is going to be fixed up and built engine. I want something that looks decent and is reliable. I have always like fieros. I think I will get it than just rebuild the engine in it.

the engine can be rebuilt for about 300-400 bucks here...should not be much different from that...as for a daily driver it would suit you fine...I had the great Iron Duke, but just got a Fiero GT...That really puts a smile on my face...anyway you go though...the Fiero's are pretty fun to drive...IMO

I have a few 4 cyl and a few 6 cyl Fieros and I enjoy all of them. A good running 4 cyl will surprise you, and a few that you will "bump" into at the lights
It all depends on what you want for looks and performance out of the Fiero. The 4 cyl is a pretty peppy engine and will give you great gas mileage. The V6 will give you a bit more pep with two more cylinders but less in fuel economy. The V6 plennum also tends to look more "impressive" to some when you pop the hood over the less fancy looking 4 cyl air cleaner look. However there a few mods that you can do to make your 4 banger not only look better but run better.
Here is what one of our 4 bangers looks like as an example:

Good luck with whatever way you decide to go

Re: Good deal?

If it's for a daily driver I'd say go with the Duke (2.5L) If you have your honda all sported and just want to cruise I'd say the 4 will get you further for your $ (per mile). Obviously if your going for an eco car get a lil civic. The duke rebuild is an experience, and looking back I think I'd call it fun.
