window problems

I have a 92 crown vic and none of my windows work now. one of them stopped working a long time ago and it will gradually slide down and i can push it back up. i can still hear the motor in it when i press the button to roll it up. can anyone tell me what is wrong with it and how to fix it?

i don't know if this is a different problem, but the other windows in my car do not slip down. they do not roll down and they just stay in a non-moving up position. i can still hear all the motors in those windows working also. can anyone tell me what is wrong with those and how to fix them? thanks.

pull the window motors and replace the gear in side motor. you can buy gear kitt from auto parts

The window that you have to slide up and down , looks like that motor
just needs new gear plugs. Check yopur local Bennett Auto supply. They are about $2.00. Do the other motors spin but the windows will not go up? If that's the case those also would need new gear pins. The gears in those motors rarely wear out.

When did the CV go to the pully system, I just changed 2 door pully's on my 97 Merc Marquis?

Does anyone know why one window would operate more slowly than the other three?

I have the same problem with my '97 Crown Vic and have replaced all the regulators in all the doors. Be very careful with the glass.

I have done a few of these. It is that piece of crap regulator they started using in 92. It is a rube goldberg cable winder thing and they just won't last. They are not hard to change just a nusiance becuase the first time they are changed you have to punch and drill the rivets out and you do have to take the glass out. And yes be careful that is about $200.00 dollars wortjh of glass

It is not always necessary to remove the glass from the frame to work on the motors or assemblies. If you remove all the trim on the inside and outside, I have been able to slide the glass in and out by bending the inner door pannel enough to get it by. I have done this 4 or 5 times on front and rear windows with the pully system.

one of my rear windows went down and wouldn't come back up on my 93 cv. the motor was working but the cables got all tangled up. i cant figure out how and why it all happened, or how the cables are supposed to hook back up. the cables are in pretty rough shape how much are replacements, i cant tell if the mounts on the window have broken off, im lookn at either replacing everything or livin with a non working window. also... my windows are always slow and by the readings on the voltage guage they drain alot to move them, crappy window motors/electonics or dying alternator.

I replaced the drivers door power window regulator in my 94 CV last year, following step by step instructions from this website (Thank You). Not too bad and saved myself some $. Now I need to replace the left rear power window regulator but in attempting to remove the regulator at the top, where it attaches to the door frame with the two fixed bolts, after removing the two nuts, there is not enough clearance to push the regulator back into the door for the bolts to clear the frame - it keeps hitting up against the glass.

Question - Last year I was able to remove the left front glass easily enough but, with the left rear, after removing the rivets, there doesn't seem to be enough clearance (left, right or up) to remove / get the glass outta the way.

How do I get the glass outta the way?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!
