Question front wheel bearing replacement

hello, got all my belts replaced today, including the timing belt. i also asked the mech about this rubbing sound in the left front of the car when going on the highway whenever the steering is turned any degree to the right. this sound started a year or so ago when i slid the front left wheel into the curb and had to get the wheel and control arms replaced.

the mech said the wheel bearing is bad. sounds very reasonable... what was unreasonable was that he wanted $369 to replace the bearing! i found replacement bearings on the web for about $45! has anyone changed the bearing themselves before? the manual i have is not very clear. if someone could list a set of tools required, that would be good. i have a lot of tools, but i certainly don't have a big bearing puller... what else might i need? a list of instructions would be good too.

thanks in advance.
