B18A1 More Power Lower RPM's.Possible?

A friend of mine gave me his Integra LS to drive for the weekend and a really started to like it. It was fun for the first 20 minutes with all that power up high to redline. Then I began doing errands in town I started getting annoyed having no lowend power.

Is there a cam or something I can do to bring the power more south? Its a capable engine. I wouldnt want more power just more lowend torque.-thanks

as much as I love honda's there one downfall is the fact that they don't have any torque... just getting a cam won't all of a sudden make it torquey...

just realized my first post didn't really help you at all... if you really want some low end torque slap a supercharger on it and that'll solve your problems off the line...

lol. he borrowed it for the weekend. i dont see superchargers in sight

there isn't really much you can do unless you want to modify it.

maybe just rev higher in 1st and 2nd.

usually what i do is shift early to 2nd, and rev 2nd high

Re: B18A1 More Power Lower RPM's.Possible?

I went to the dragstrip yesterday with a friend. We raced a prelude powered CRX agains my friends all motor, all bolt-ons, pretty much stock 89' mustang and won 2 out of 3. It was fun.
In talking to the honda guy after the race, I told him my little problem with torque and he said the best thing to do is improve on the intake side and leave the exhaust alone.
More specific he said get cold air, throttle body,Intake manifold, higher duration intake cam, adjustable cam wheels or gears whatever and underdrive pulleys. Im surpose to get all these parts from ebay if I take my time. The minute I touch the exhaust I will get little more power but its gonna skyrocket way up north again. Also he said integras has good flow exhaust from factory compaired to most stock compact cars. Does this sound right? Its a 96' by the way. My budget for the engine would be a $1000 since it only cost $3500 for the car so supercharger, turbo and engine swap is out of the question. Just tryin to get a simple reliable torque integra. Sounds easy right.

Re: B18A1 More Power Lower RPM's.Possible?

i would go with cold air intake for more low end torque.

Magnecor ignition wires help with quicker throttle response but no power gain if your old wires need replacing.

in my experience with high flow exhaust on other toyota car, i lost low end torque, so you should keep the stock exhaust if you go N/A.
But if you go Super or Turbo, high flow exhaust is a must.

i am searching for more lower end torque/power myself since i drive on streets and don't race.
