Question Too many miles to put on a turbo?

I have 99 Jetta III wolfsburg with 80k miles on it. I want to put a Garrett t25 turbo on it and i was told by my uncle that because the engine has that many miles on it that the turbo will decrease the life of my engine a good amount. I only plan on running it at 5psi i'm not a street racer i just want to hear the blow-off valve and theadded horse power isn't bad either. What do you think about this?

I think that if you want a noise maker, stick a card in your spokes. Get your priorities straight.

As for whether or not you can turbo it, never judge a cars condition by how many miles it has on it...judge a cars condition by it's condition. As long as your car is in good condition, and the turbo is installed properly, you should be fine.

well u can put the boost so that it doesn't come in before a certain RPM but since u are onyl doing this for the sound from the BOV then why even get a turbo? get a tweeter and have it play the sound everytime u press the button.. your so fake dude

Re: Too many miles to put on a turbo?

I thought he Wolfsburg edition was a 1.8t?

O well maby not. Anyway, putting any kind of FI on a car will decrease the life of the engine somewhat. But it all depends on how it is maintained. You will have to change the oil more often, coolant flushes, and lots of little things to keep it running right.

If you are just wanting the BOV sound go and get a Jetta 1.8t and be done with it

I guess i came off a little wrong, I dont just want the blow off valve but i chill with a bunch of people that are into cars and one of them has an eagle talon that kicks ass and has the sweetest sounding HKS BOV i've ever heard and i wanted to get that one real bad. I want the turbo not just for that but for the speed cause my car is pretty slow. Comon man tell me that you don't turn around to look when you hear the blow-off of a turbo. WEll anyway i went to momentum tuning (an audi/Vw performance shop) and it ends up the turbos for the 2.0l aren't worth it due to the emissions problems and i would need a lot more than jst the turbo. So i'm saving for a 1.8t.
