baking soda vs vinegar

Which one of these would work better to clean the corrosion off of my batery cables? I'm sure there's better things out there, but since I have these items already, why not try em?

Backing Soda and HOT water, mix it together in a bowl, and poor it onto the bat. Then use a tooth brush and clean the corrosion.

Re: baking soda vs vinegar

mix baking soda with some water. baking soda is a base so it neutralizes the acid in the corosion. vinegar is an acid so it won't react with the corrosion.

Re: baking soda vs vinegar

yes backing soda is what you need to use, i did this about a month ago when i relocated my battery to the trunk, and had to clean up the connections on the wires. i just got some baking soda and hot water, threw the parts into the mixture and it foamed up instantly and removed all the corotion no problem.
