4th generation functional spoiler?

Is the 4th generation spoiler functional other than asthetically? I hate to have a spoiler just for looks if it is of no benefit performace wise.

the spoiler's primary function is not to make your car cool, but to give your car necessary downforce in high speeds.
if you have a too small spoiler, it's not going to work as efficiently as intended, while if you have a too large spoiler, that's just going to give you too much downforce and slow down your car(top speed wise).

the spoilers on 4th gen, well..it looks good enough for me.
besides, you don't really need it unless u drive your car 100mph+ everyday, every minute..

The most tricked out maximas we have down in south orange county is clear corners and the occasional maxima with rims, one of the teachers at school has one with rims, lowered and n1 exhaust on it, its very nice, and I have seen one 5th gen with rims.....yes I know, we are missing out =(
