window trim removal

I have a 94 explorer and the rear most glass on the drivers side ( cargo area window seems to be leaking on my alarm box setting off the alarm everytime it rains I need to know how to remove the outer trim without destroying it so I can seal the window up before it blows the alarm box up or one of my neighbors fire bombs my truck thanks for your help.

Re: window trim removal

The outer trim is part of the glass. To remove you need to remove the inside trim of the cargo area and unbolt the nuts and then remove the glass and reseal. This can be done by yourself if you feel comfortable with the task. Be forewarned that a possiblilty exists that you may break the glass when removing. Remove all of the old glue and apply a bead prior to reinstallation. If you're not comfortable doing this go to a auto glass shop for a piece of mind. BTW don't let them tell you that they'll just apply a bead of sealant around the glass, have them remove the glass and then apply new sealant...afterall you don't want your neighbors to come after you.
