I have a 2000 milly with the surface etched ignition key that very few locksmiths seem to be able to duplicate. Unfortunately, I can't find a local source, and I only have a single key.

I've heard that the key code can be obtained (by the dealer) with the VIN (for a charge) or that it is available on the passenger side door lock. Has anyone verified the key code is imprinted on the lock or know where to look?

I would like to order a few more keys but would rather not send the key off to remote locksmith.

Please disregard - I found a local locksmith in the area. Thanks to the Mazda dealership which referred me.
