Performance Upgrades

I am just got my hands on a 2001 Mirage ES. This is my first car and I would like to get some performance upgrades on it. I really don't care how the body looks minus wheels. All I am concerned about is performance upgrades. What do you recommend the first thing I look at doing is given the fact that I have never done this before?

well do yo want mad performance or just a lil bit to make you noticable. theres NOS, individual throttle bodies, stage 1-5 cams in NA or turbo grinds, titanium valve springs, stage 1-3 ported and polished heads, pistons and rods, piggy back computers, standalone like Haltech, turbo kits, and for 1.8l theres a supercharger and theres headers, intakes, catbacks, axlebacks, hi flow cats, the 2nd gen turbo eclipse throttle body. go to these sites to get info on the rage www.mirageforums.net, www.rpw.com.au, www.miragelinx.com, www.mirageconcepts.net, www.speed-factor.com any more ?s feel free to ask me
