question about stock shocks

I bought a pair of stock shocks, front and rear (w/ 30k on them) for my 91 240sx. The rear shocks are like new and the piston on both works nicely (when the piston on the shock is pushed in, they come out smoothly). My question is about the front shocks. The piston on both front shocks does not come out of the shock absorber when pushed. I can push the piston in and pull it out of the shock. Is this right??? I can hear the liquid inside of the front shocks so, I know that is a good sign. Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.

on an old fastback i got KYB AGX's to replace stock cuz i lowered car

the stock ones wouldent come back up when i pushed them down, but when they were on the car they ran like new very stiff

i notice ur car is a HICAS car. correct me if im wrong. did u have to buy special shock for hicas or it can be any 89-94 shock. help me out here since i need shocks for my hicas 240sx. thx

doesn't matter if the car has hicas or not.. any suspension will work.. (fit for the 240).. its all about what kind of driving you're doing..
