1995 sl2 Engine swap, what years are compatible
I have a 1995 saturn Automatic DOHC sl2 and i want to know what years will fit into it? Also, how hard is it to do an engine change in a sl2? Will SC or Wagon engines fit into the car? Will a manual transmission engine fit into an automatic?
Thanks Chris |

Re: 1995 sl2 Engine swap, what years are compatible
you may have to do some measuring and shopping around, but you should be able to swap an SC or SW engine in, they are generally the same

Re: 1995 sl2 Engine swap, what years are compatible
all dohc saturn motors were the same for that same year. I put a 95 motor in a 96 and found the ohmic value of the injectors was different altho it still worked and is still running fine 3 years later.

Re: 1995 sl2 Engine swap, what years are compatible
U could try an 00-02 engine from an SL, i have that model...
0-60 in 4.5 sec. with an all stock setup.. manual-5!!! that would be a nice selection for a swap

I called the people at 6thPlanetAutoParts and they said there were newer engines that will work. But I ended up getting a 95 from an Oklahoma salvageyard. 77k mi for $600 with a trade-in. My car is automatic and the engine i put in was from an automatic, but i think it doesn't matter.
The hard parts on the swap are taking the 5 bolts off the flywheel and separating and putting together the engine and tranny because of the dowel pins. There is room to pry though at the bottom of the engine. If you have two people it will go smoothly. |

Re: 1995 sl2 Engine swap, what years are compatible
what years it will swap to depends on how much work you want to do. 95 to 95 - simple / 95 to 91 or 2002 - quite a bit. what are you're plans?
