GSR swap for a 99 civic ex/ d16 turbo

I was wondering how difficult it would be to swap my 99 automatic d16 for a 5 speed b18. Is it worth getting a 5 speed, or should i stick with an automatic? Also is it worth getting a b18, or should i just turbo my d16?

well that all depends are how deep ur pocket is and how much power your looking for. i think u have the D16Z7 127 hp @ 6600 107 lb-ft torque @ 5500.

there a couple of differ b18 engines that you look at the best and most expensive is the b18c from the type R 210hp@8100rpm 134lbs-ft@7500rpmwill run you about $4,400 or around there. or you can go with the b18b non vtec from LS 142hp@6300rpm 127lbs-ft@5200rpm
goes around $1800. , but if i had your car i would look into seein if you can get a h22a 202hp@6800rpm 161lbs-ft@5500rpm for almost nuttin $2,300

A turbo d16 with only 6psi will be faster than having a stock B18C1, gsr engine. If you turbo the gsr engine your car will fly if you install wings.

My friend installed a base turbo kit on his '00 EX for like $2,000 and it put down 175whp and 170wtq. Just the GS-R engine alone costs $3,000 - $3,500 then you gotta buy parts and everything assuming you install it yourself. They only put down 165whp and about 125wtq.

with a h22 how much $$ would mounting kits and other parts needed cost. also is a h22 easy to turbo?

On the EX engine? I don't think, I know. Check out the article in Super Street of January or so where they put a base Eidelbach kit on one for it's dynocharts. My friend has a Greddy kit, but they add almost the same amount +- a couple hp maybe.

Easy to install, no. They are from a different chassis, a Prelude. The Integra and Civic are close enough to where you won't need much, but the H22 wiring harness is a bitch from what I hear and unless you plan on only going in a straight line, you're going to have some minor understeer and irregular tire wear without some beefed suspension. The inside of my tires wear quicker and I only went from a 1.6 sohc to a 1.6 dohc. Now imagine the 2.0 engine weighing things down. Turbocharging one would be just as hard/easy as boosting any other Honda engine..

tru but i thik he'll still have to do his suspension if he jus turbo it jus to be on the safe side but if he goes with the turbo he still gonna have A MANUAL tranny! well if i had the money i would go with the gsr or look more into the h22a

no way a stock gsr puts down 165 whp and 125lb/ft of torque to the wheels. that's to the flywheel buddy

whoops sorry it's more like 150whp and 115wtq. My friend has one with i/h/e and he puts down 165whp.
