Disappointing experience with Buy Right in Auckland

I had a disappointing experience with Buy Right cars recently....

I found a 1993 Nissan Primara Te Manual on their yard that I wanted to buy.......The price on the window was $8495 + On Road Costs. On closer inspection the car turned out to be a 1991, not a 1993 as indicated on the window.

Fine....I had cash, and we started negotiating with the salesman. I offered $7495 + On Road Costs, so $7895 in total. The salesman said "ok I'll take it to the boss".

Fine.....well several minutes later he came back and said "Well Ummm yeah.....tyhere was a mistake with our window sticker......the previous sales manager put it up and it should have read $8995 + On Road Costs. But my boss has agreed to drop the price down to $8495 + On Road Costs - $8895."

Well I was a bit puzzled....but I really wanted the car and thought it worth be worth me offering a bit more.....I came back with $8495 including the On Road Costs - a $600 increase. The salesman said "ok....I'll take it to the boss".......another few minutes later he came back and said....."I'm afraid my bosses offer is already at the lowest end of his acceptable range - he still asks $8895."

Well my father and I just looked at each other.....this was ridiculous.....I was offering cash for this car and he still wanted the window price even though it was two years older than he was advertising it. Needless to say, we got up and walked out.

Sorry to hear about your experience, believe me if someone is falsely advertising something there is usually something wrong with it, I suggest you look at Toyota's signature class range, the Toyota dealers are much more honest

Yeah well to be honest I just suspected the manager guy at buy right was a bit of a shark. That car had been on the yard for longer than 2 months (it was sitting right down the back). I think the 1993 sticker was put on deliberately to try and shift it because it had been there so long compared to the rest of their cars.

I also beleived the price mistake was a lie, and that the lack of negotiation was due to the fact that he knew I liked the car a lot, and he thought I would pay a high price for it....so he didn't budge an inch.

Well he can stick it up his ass.

I ended up buying a 1993 T4 Primera (SR20DE, Leather, 10 Stack CD, AWD, but Auto unfortunately) paying $6995, which I thought was a good deal. (From a different dealer obviously).
