Re: Looking for a chip

Better to have him just get some real mods done (intake, exhaust, fuel delivery, etc) then get a proper tune. I'd like to actually make more power from functional things rather than fool the computer into leaning out/richening the air/fuel.

Hypertech & Jet both make chips and programmers.
Hypertech has a Power Programmer and a Power Module, whereas Jet has a stage 1 & 2 performance chip.
All these mods claim 15-25 Hp and 20 ft lbs torque gains.
I do not know if this is factual or not.

I found these and other items at:
http://truckperformance.com/products/?productID=655002

Hope this helps.

I have a 95 Formula that I bought a Hypertech programmer for. I highly recommend this product over a set chip. The programmer costs as much as $300 but it gives you control over many things. The basic programming changes the engine management for more power. You can also change the top speed limiter, rpm limiter, and tell the computer your tire size and rear gear ratio (so your speedometer/odometer stays accurate.) If the car is an automatic, you can even set your shift points. To get the most out of the programming, you must use premium gas. Programming takes about 15 minutes, you just plug the programmer into the slot below the steering wheel and the programmer will ask you a bunch of yes/no questions. If there's any problems, the programmer saves your car's original program and will reinstall it. I have sent my car to the shop many times and the mechanics don't even know it's been programmed because it does not generate any error codes. Try www.jegs.com. Ask for thier catalog which has a whole section on LT-1's. I get all my upgrades from them.

Re: Looking for a chip

Listen to FormulaForce the Hypertech III is def the best bet. Also better idea would be to look for it on ebay i am actually gonna buy one myself they have them for 220$ there. Another good idea would be to buy the hypertech 160 powerstat along with the programmer, this will keep the engine cooler and it only cost about 35$
