blinker

ok my blinker went out on the side markers in the front. so i replaced them. well the left blinker bliinks when on but the right doesn't but all the bulbs are lit up. I thought it could be the blinker relay but the guy in wester auto insisted that it wasn't that. well if thats the case then whats going on?

Re: blinker

Does your dash right turn indicator stay lit? May be a blown bulb, and only for the turnsignal, not both it and the drive light.

I don't think it can. It's a really simple part that makes an intermittent circuit. It usually won't flash if the rest of the circuit is open though- usually with a burned out bulb being the culprit. I had to learn a bit about them while designing a replacement for the crappy wiring scheme in a '47 Ford pickup.

I just had a thought... does the hazard light switch use the same blinker relay? What happens if you turn that on?

Re: blinker

This is funny. My problem was that the blinker ligh onthe dash would stay on , sort of dimm like, and I would get a left turn signal message from the info panel w/ a nice chime to boot. I was ready to tear off the black panel on the driver side in search of this phantom relay. My muscle car friend popped the hood on the car unplugged the blinker in the headlamps and wiggled the wires and presto the dash light was out. I switched on the left turn signal and it worked fine. The best I could guess is that there is a short in the immediate wires near the bulb. The bulb could not be grounding correctly. I believe there is a copper color plate on the bottom of the lamp socket make sure that it is clean. Good Luck he save me a few dollars and some asprin.

Re: blinker

I did have the hazards on the other day and they worked fine.
