Help w/ that silver lining stuff around the windows

I'm not sure what youc call it but I'm talking about the silver strips that go around the windows. Mine has cracked and peeled in a few places and wanted to know the best way to go about fixing this. any help is appreciated.

Re: Help w/ that silver lining stuff around the windows

yeah i know what your talking about, its that hard plastic coating that the put on the trim just below the door windows right, its a real pain in the ass. i had one of my old civics that was peeling back, it was hard but i pulled most of it off as best i could and cut it as smooth as i could with razor blades, real dangerous i might add,lol then i taped them off on the car and spayed them with SEMS bumper and trim coat, its nice stuff some parts stores carry it, the only real way to fix them is to buy new trim peices from honda, its a b$tch taking em off without breaking the little clips when you don't know how, wish i could help you more bro.

I had the same problems on my old civic, and I just carefully masked the area to prevent overspray, and painted it using a rubbery paint (i dont know how to describe the stuff, other than it didn't feel like normal paint). I think the stuff was called black-it-out or something around that, and its made to paint those rubber kind or pieces.

the silver trim around the windows looks horrible imo.....im eventually gonna rip it off and find some way of filling the gap....if I was you I would scrape all the flaky parts off, mask it real well, and repaint it black
