96' base vs. 95' mustang v8 5.0L????

I have a friend that just got a new 1995 mustang, v8 5.0L, and he wants to race. Should i go ahead and race him or will i get cleaned in my 96' base?

It would be a close race but you can still do it if you're a good driver. I raced one and beat it. I didn't tool the sh*t out of him, but I still took him. Is he a 5sp? Are you?

Aren't the 90s gts 4.7L or 4.9? Regardless, i think it would be a good race/drivers race. my friend has 98(i think) and he runs low 15 (high 14s so he says...) That's what Nesryn runs with her SL, so your car should be about even.

Both are 5speed, he just got his and i have had my car for about 6 months now so if it comes down to the driver then i would take him. I just didnt know if he would sweep me just from raw power. I thought it was a 4.7 too i dont know where he got 5.0? He must think it sounds better, hehehe.

SL vs 5.0 mustang. This would be a good race. Like everybody said it will proably come down to driver but dont forget ur goin up agisnt a v-8 so watch out it could get you in the mid RPM range. Mostly likely if he was gonna beatyou it will be in third gear.

secret( even when mustangs claimed to have 5.0 liters it was always 4.8) you have the base, most likely this stang is gonna win, if your cleraly a better driver then you can get him but otherwise, i'm predicting about 1 1/2 car lengths on you.

If I can take em in my SL, then why can't a base take them? There's not much diff b/w SL and base...

because nesryn your a very good driver from the stories i've heard and probably very underetimated. but a normal driver against a normal driver the stang should win 7 out of 10 times. i pulled 2 car lengths on a gt when i was stock. so sl's should be even or maybe a little behind cause if i'm correct mustang gt run aobut 14.8 on a average, i'll check and make sure

Hmmm maybe. I seen them listed as low 15's mainly. 15.1 and 15.2 *shrugz* Then I'll just say, become a good driver and you can beat mustangs

Re: 96' base vs. 95' mustang v8 5.0L????

He has a 96 base, so 222hp as previously stated, also, I think that the older gts were slower, low 15s not high 14s. I really think it would be closer. And youngvr4, you should be beating regular gts by alot more then 2 car lengths...in my experience.

Yeah that's what I was thinkin... Older GT's aren't really that amazingly fast. I drove my dad's VR4 one night and it would have tooled the sh*t out of my car and therefore the same with an older mustang GT...
